Developed in association with the International Union of Railways, the software has been designed from the ground up with the needs of professional engineers in mind:

Firstly, a new property editor and suite of object 'explorers' allow users to query and change local and global bridge properties (from single block to entire bridge properties). Changes made using the property editor can easily be reversed using the undo feature and a significantly enhanced 'new bridge wizard' allows users to set up complex problems more quickly and easily than before. Context sensitive help and enhanced report output are now also available.

Secondly, a dramatically improved analysis engine means that solutions can be found for a wider range of problems than before. Furthermore, ring2.0 is the only commercially available software to implement the rigid block analysis method, described in a recent CIRIA report as being:

"a significant improvment from basic limit analysis"*

Though ring2.0 provides the level of versatility and power more usually associated with finite element packages, it is as simple to use as much less powerful automated hand analysis methods. It is just as useful for rapidly checking the adequacy of a simple single-span arch as it is when you need to perform a full analysis of a complex multi-span viaduct with a variety of defects.
